…not because of my feelings towards the paper’s wonderfully open minded and progressive views on society (cough). But more because that it was annual report! A document that demands the same amount attention as this years series of big brother. At least the shift has finally happened, with most clients finally waking up to (but rarely exploiting) the benefits of taking the report online. But still… who cares?
So while the hours spent pouring over the detail in the pages and pages of investor analysis, charts, graphs and tables didn’t exactly excite me – what it did do is sharpen my skills, taught me how to design a bit, and gave me a keen eye for detail that I now use to keep all my pixels in check. So I’d say to any young designer if you get the chance to design a beastly review and report through to the bitter end, even if it is as dull as dish water… jump at it!
